Eddie Murphy is set to make his holiday film debut in the upcoming release of “Candy Cane Lane.” This highly anticipated movie will exclusively premiere on Prime Video across the globe on December 1, 2023.
Alongside Eddie Murphy, the film features a star-studded ensemble that includes Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, D.C. Young Fly, and Anjelah Johnson-Reyes.

The heartwarming story at the core of “Candy Cane Lane” promises to capture the true essence of the holiday season. Infused with humor and filled with magical moments, the film is poised to deliver an unforgettable Christmas experience.
Directed by the Reginald Hudlin, who shared his anticipation for the film, stating, “I can’t wait for the world to see Candy Cane Lane. I’ve wanted to make a Christmas movie my whole life, but I wanted to do something fresh and surprising. Eddie Murphy and this hilarious cast really bring the funny, it’s super Christmas-y, and it will hit you right in the feels.”
The film’s screenplay, penned by Kelly Younger, draws inspiration from his childhood holiday memories of Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, California.

“Candy Cane Lane” tells the story of Chris (Eddie Murphy), a determined individual on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. However, his quest takes an unexpected turn when he unwittingly makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell). Pepper casts a magical spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, resulting in delightful chaos engulfing the entire town.
To rescue Christmas and prevent a holiday disaster, Chris, alongside his wife Carol (portrayed by Tracee Ellis Ross) and their three children, embarks on a race against time to break Pepper’s enchanting spell. Along the way, they encounter an array of deviously magical characters, all while striving to restore peace and joy to their community.
Danielle Pinnock, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Riki Lindhome, Lombardo Boyar, and Timothy Simons round out the cast.
It’s worth noting that “Candy Cane Lane” marks a significant reunion. Director Reginald Hudlin, Eddie Murphy, and producer Brian Grazer are collaborating once again, rekindling the creative spark that brought us the 1992 hit, “Boomerang.”
