We’re excited to share an exclusive clip from Prime Video’s upcoming drama, “Sitting in Bars with Cake.” The film, led by Yara Shahidi and Odessa A’zion explores themes of friendship, resilience, and the pursuit of happiness, even in challenging circumstances.

The story revolves around the lives of best friends Jane and Corinne as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of their twenties in the vibrant city of Los Angeles.

In an interesting twist, Corinne encourages Jane, a skilled but introverted home baker, to undertake a year-long project called “cakebarring.” This creative endeavor involves baking cakes and taking them to bars, a venture aimed at boosting confidence and fostering new connections. However, their two-decade-long friendship faces an extraordinary test when Corinne receives a life-altering diagnosis.

In the exclusive clip, Corinne (A’zion) and Jane (Shahidi) are at the hospital post cancer diagnosis. Corinne’s mind is preoccupied with plans for their next cakebarring which she poses as a Pina Colada Coconut cake, Jane is deeply concerned about Corinne’s health. They engage in a lighthearted back-and-forth, highlighting their differing perspectives. This brief but impactful scene reveals the depth of their friendship and care for each other during a time of serious health concerns. And Corinne’s fight to stay positive in the scariest time of her life.

Ron Livingston and Bette Midler roudn out the cast. Directed by Trish Sie, known for “Pitch Perfect 3,” the film draws inspiration from real-life events and is based on Audrey Shulman’s book, with her penning the screenplay.

Beyond celebrating female friendship, the film explores self-discovery and the discovery of joy in unexpected places. It delves into themes of resilience, treasuring meaningful moments, and embracing the complexities of friendship and love, delivering a relatable and emotionally resonant experience.
