Pronghorn, an innovative company dedicated to fostering the next generation of Black founders and leaders in the spirits industry, is set to launch a new docuseries titled “Distilled.” Executive produced by actor and director Jesse Williams, this series shines a spotlight on the dynamic world of Black-owned spirits brands, exploring their rich heritage, innovative spirit, and the unwavering passion of their creators.
“Distilled” goes beyond the surface to explore the fields where ingredients are grown, the distilleries where magic happens, and the communities that benefit from these brands. The series is a tribute to the culture, craftsmanship, and relentless pursuit of excellence that defines these businesses. Viewers will journey through the various stages of production, gaining an intimate look at the passion and dedication driving these entrepreneurs.
Timed to coincide with Black Business Month, “Distilled” will premiere on AMC+ on August 1st. The series will provide an in-depth look at the successes and challenges faced by Black-owned spirits brands, aiming to inspire and educate viewers about the importance of diversity and representation in the industry.
Williams, executive producer of “Distilled,” hopes the series will foster a connection between viewers and the entrepreneurs behind these brands. “This series not only highlights the ingenuity and industriousness of Black entrepreneurs in the spirits industry, but it invites us all to explore the realities of their pursuit of the American dream,” said Williams. “My hope is that these stories create an immediate connection to the human beings—the founders and brands featured—and that all of you are incentivized to rally not only widespread consumer support but inclusion when discussing homegrown bootstrap entrepreneurship.”
Pronghorn co-founder Erin J. Hall echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of elevating the stories of Black entrepreneurs. “Pronghorn is proud to present the premiere screening of ‘Distilled,’ a compelling docuseries that shines a light on the rich heritage and entrepreneurial drive of Black-owned spirits brands,” Hall said. “This debut and partnership with Jesse and ABFF is another proof point of Pronghorn’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and elevating their stories in the spirits industry.”
The first episode of “Distilled” centers on Delta Dirt Distillery, a family-owned craft distillery located in the rich farmlands of the Arkansas Delta. The Williams family, who have farmed their land for four generations, grow their own produce and grains, creating unique and authentic spirits that stand out in the American distilling industry.
