Quinta Brunson Joins the Wild Ride in ‘Zootopia 2’ [FIRST LOOK]

Things are about to get real fuzzy in Zootopia.

During Disney’s CinemaCon 2025 presentation, the studio finally pulled back the curtain on Zootopia 2, giving attendees a sneak peek at the sequel to the wildly successful 2016 animated hit. And yes, your favorite bunny-cop/fox-hustler duo is back — but this time, they’re not chasing criminals… they’re chasing emotional breakthroughs.

In one of the new scenes previewed, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are finding out that being long-term partners in law enforcement comes with baggage. So much so, they’ve been sent to partners therapy — and not just any session. We’re talking group therapy led by an enthusiastic quokka named Dr. Fuzzbee, voiced by Abbott Elementary creator and Emmy winner Quinta Brunson.

That’s right. Brunson’s getting animated once again, bringing some fuzzy-headed insight to a support circle filled with mismatched cop duos: a panicky elephant sharing a car with a fearless mouse, a bickering deer-skunk pair, and more oddball partnerships that make Judy and Nick look like couple goals. But don’t get it twisted — Judy’s not convinced they even need therapy, nervously declaring, “We’ve only been partners for a week, and we are not dysfunctional.” Cue the nervous foot-thumping.

Dr. Fuzzbee? She sees right through it.

Also joining the voice cast is Academy Award-winner Ke Huy Quan, who plays Gary, a snake and Zootopia’s very first reptilian resident. Quan himself introduced the footage at CinemaCon, joking, “Like me, he’s terrifying and villainous.” But Gary isn’t just there for laughs — his mysterious arrival sets off a new case that sends Judy and Nick deep into marshy territory, where waterslides are overrun by hippos and a sea lion juggler adds to the weirdness.

Oh, and speaking of weird — Jason Bateman (Nick) had a little fun before the big reveal, renaming Disney’s upcoming slate with pun-heavy animal titles like Thundercolts (instead of Thunderbolts) and Fantastic Fur (you get the idea). Ginnifer Goodwin also returns as Judy, and singer Shakira is confirmed to reprise her role as pop star Gazelle — this time, with a brand new original song in tow.

Rounding out the comedic cast is Fortune Feimster, who voices a beaver named Nibbles. And yes, she communicates in her own quirky way. You’ll just have to hear it to believe it.

Zootopia 2 marks the return of director-writer duo Byron Howard and Jared Bush, the team behind the first film that earned over $1 billion globally and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. With Disney riding high after the monster successes of Inside Out 2 and Moana 2, expectations are sky-high that Zootopia 2 will carry the torch this Thanksgiving.

Mark your calendars: Zootopia 2 opens in theaters November 26 — just in time for the holiday crowd to dive back into the animal kingdom.
