Regina Hall Talks Whether She'll Return to ‘Scary Movie’ Franchise With The Wayans Brothers

Halloween season just got an extra dose of excitement as Marlon Wayans announced he and his brothers, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans, are officially returning to the Scary Movie franchise for a sixth installment.

With fans buzzing about the reunion, one question quickly surfaced: Will Regina Hall return as the fan-favorite Brenda Meeks, whose unforgettable scenes and quotable moments continue to light up social media?

In a recent interview with TV Insider, Hall shared her excitement about the Wayans brothers’ involvement and hinted at her openness to revisiting Brenda’s world. “I’m just very excited to know that the Wayans, who actually started the project out of their idea, are back on board and at the helm again. I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again. That would be fun,” she shared.

For Hall, a reunion with her Scary Movie co-star Anna Faris would be equally exciting. Faris, who played Cindy Campbell alongside Hall’s Brenda in the first four films, has previously expressed her conditions for returning, citing a desire to work with Hall again. “I would love to work with Regina again. We would make each other giggle all day long,” Faris told People earlier this year.

The Wayans brothers’ return marks a full-circle moment for the franchise. Scary Movie premiered in 2000 as a clever spoof of horror classics like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, and went on to parody everything from The Shining to The Matrix. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and co-written by Marlon and Shawn, the film series became a cultural staple, setting a high bar for horror-comedy.

After nearly two decades since their last involvement in the franchise, Marlon Wayans took to Instagram to make the announcement fans had been waiting for: “After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the Scary Movie franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”

With production set to begin in 2025 and a theatrical release expected through Miramax and Paramount, Scary Movie 6 aims to revive the humor and horror that defined the series, this time with the original creators at the helm.

This potential reunion of Hall, Faris, and the Wayans brothers has many eagerly anticipating what the next installment will bring. Will we see Brenda and Cindy back in action? Fans can only hope the iconic duo will make their comeback in true Scary Movie style, delivering the laughs and scares that made the franchise a lasting hit.
