Set in Brooklyn’s gritty landscape, Atrabilious follows Steven Joyner (played by Brown) on a haunting journey to uncover the truth behind his son’s untimely and suspicious death. His search leads him to the mysterious bar, Atrabilious, where a web of secrets and a dark history begin to surface.
The deal was negotiated by Buffalo 8 Distribution’s Head, Nikki Stier Justice, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor. “We’re thrilled to bring Atrabilious to audiences,” Justice shared, noting its blend of neo-noir mystery and indie energy. “Parker’s imaginative storytelling, paired with the compelling performances of this talented cast, makes it a standout addition to our lineup.”
This project is Parker’s second feature film, following his critically acclaimed debut, Forty Winks. In addition to directing, he co-produced Atrabilious with Sabina Friedman-Seitz. Reflecting on the journey, Parker expressed his excitement about teaming up with Buffalo 8. “After two and a half years, I couldn’t have imagined a better partner. Atrabilious is a darkly comedic and magical look at grief—something I’ve long wanted to explore. I’m thrilled to share it with the world alongside an incredible cast and crew.”
Atrabilious will be distributed globally by Buffalo 8, with release details expected soon.
