Rico Nasty is officially stepping into her actress era. The rapper is making her acting debut in Apple TV+’s upcoming dramedy Margo’s Got Money Troubles, created by David E. Kelley and produced by A24.
Rico joins the cast in a recurring role, alongside My Lady Jane actor Michael Workèyè. The series also stars Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Nicole Kidman, and is based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 novel of the same name.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles follows Margo Millet (Fanning), a 20-year-old trying to keep her head above water. The daughter of a Hooters waitress (Pfeiffer) and a washed-up pro wrestler (Nick Offerman), Margo finds herself alone with a baby, no job, and rent due. After a fling with her junior college English professor (Michael Angarano) leaves her pregnant, life comes at her fast.
When her estranged father Jinx reappears and asks to crash at her place, she cuts a deal—he can stay if he helps with childcare. That’s when things take a left turn: Margo launches an OnlyFans to stay afloat and starts applying her dad’s outlandish wrestling advice to her online persona. Hustle meets heel turns.
Rico will play KC, one of the colorful characters Margo encounters on her chaotic journey. Workèyè will portray JB, another figure in Margo’s orbit. And joining them is Anora breakout Lindsey Normington, who plays Rose.
The ensemble also features Thaddea Graham, Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, and more.
The eight-episode series is executive produced by Kelley (who also serves as showrunner), alongside Elle and Dakota Fanning, Brittany Kahan Ward (for Lewellen Pictures), Nicole Kidman and Per Saari (for Blossom Films), and Michelle Pfeiffer. Author Rufi Thorpe and Eva Anderson also executive produce.
As for Rico, this move comes right as she’s closing one chapter and opening another. After parting ways with Atlantic Records, she’s gearing up to drop her new album LETHAL via Fueled By Ramen on May 16. Music on lock. Acting on deck. She’s building an empire, one bold step at a time.
No word yet on when Margo’s Got Money Troubles will premiere—but with this cast and premise? We’re already sold.
