SUNSET BABY

Signature Theatre has announced the cast for Dominique Morisseau’s “Sunset Baby,” featuring Russell Hornsby, Moses Ingram, and J. Alphonse Nicholson. Directed by Steve H. Broadnax III, Sunset Baby highlights the collision of ideological conviction with the complexities of everyday survival in the story of a Black revolutionary’s fraught reunion with his adult daughter.

The production kicks off Signature’s Winter/Spring 2024 season, with performances beginning January 30 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center, located 480 W. 42nd Street.

The production sheds light on the tumultuous reunion between Nina (Moses Ingram) and her estranged father Kenyatta (Russell Hornsby), a former Black revolutionary seeking redemption. J. Alphonse Nicholson plays Damon, Nina’s boyfriend, adding another layer to the narrative set in East New York.

Dominique Morisseau’s previous works include “Confederates” (2022) and “Paradise Blue” (2018). Tickets to the general public will go on sale soon.
