Before it hits the screen for its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, RZA’s One Spoon Of Chocolate has unveiled its official trailer, and it’s clear this one’s coming out swinging.
Written and directed by RZA, the film stars Shameik Moore, Blair Underwood, RJ Cyler, Paris Jackson, Emyri Crutchfield, Michael Harney, and Harry Goodwins.
One Spoon Of Chocolate isn’t your average revenge thriller—it’s a bloody, unapologetic gut punch packed with purpose. Shameik Moore leads as Unique, a military vet who returns home after being falsely accused and imprisoned for assault. He heads to Ohio, hoping to find some peace and reconnect with his last surviving relative, Ramsey (RJ Cyler). But this town is hiding some dark, twisted secrets.
A racist sheriff and his brutal crew have been preying on young Black men, and when Unique becomes their next target, he doesn’t just fight back—he unleashes hell, armed with a sword and a whole lot of fury.
Drawing from his own teenage years spent in Ohio, RZA brings a raw, deeply personal edge to this grindhouse action flick. Not only did he direct it, he also wrote the screenplay, blending real-world truths with high-octane violence. It’s a throwback to classic exploitation cinema, but with a 2025 bite that’s hard to ignore.
Behind the camera, cinematographer Brandon Cox and editor Joe D’Augustine help capture the film’s relentless energy, while Tyler Bates scores the mayhem. Producers include Paul Hall, Robert F. Diggs, and Talani R. Diggs, with Mitchell Diggs, Talani R. Diggs, and Joseph Patrick Genier serving as executive producers.
One Spoon Of Chocolate runs for 112 minutes as part of the Escape from Tribeca program, delivering a vicious, socially charged ride that refuses to back down.
