Samuel L. Jackson’s Frisco King Teaser: “Small Town, Big Hustle”

Paramount+ has released the first teaser for Frisco King, the Tulsa King spinoff starring Samuel L. Jackson, confirming a December 18 premiere with two episodes, followed by new installments weekly on Fridays. Jackson reprises his role as Russell Lee Washington Jr., the New Orleans gangster first introduced in Tulsa King’s third season, as he relocates his operation to Frisco, Texas.

The series follows Lee as he discovers what the official synopsis calls a “hustler’s playground hidden beneath the polished surface of American suburbia,” recruiting an ambitious protégé, a loyal driver, and a growing network of associates to turn small hustles into a larger operation, with the stakes rising as his influence expands. The teaser features a direct exchange with Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who tells Lee to “see how far you can take it” in Frisco. Stallone, who told Extra TV he’ll “drop in for a few episodes,” reprises his Tulsa King role in a recurring capacity, building on the two characters’ prior history: Dwight once saved Lee’s life in prison, and years later, Lee was hired to kill Dwight but refused to go through with it.

Taylor Sheridan, who created Tulsa King and wrote all eight episodes of Frisco King’s first season, continues an unusually prolific run across Paramount’s current lineup, including Yellowstone, Landman, Lioness, and Mayor of Kingstown. The series was originally developed under the title NOLA King, set in Lee’s hometown of New Orleans, before shifting to a Texas setting closer to Sheridan’s own production base near Fort Worth.

The cast also includes Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate, and Savanna Gann. Jackson and Stallone executive produce alongside David C. Glasser, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, and others, with Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios producing. Jackson told USA Today he hopes “the audience enjoys it as much as I did living in this world over eight episodes.”

With the premiere landing the same week as Tulsa King’s own Season 4 continuation, the real test for Frisco King will be whether Sheridan’s connected universe can expand Lee’s story into something distinct from Dwight’s, rather than simply retracing the same formula in a new zip code.
