Marlon Wayans Set to Star in Sports Horror Film “Goat” From Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions

Universal Pictures and Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions have secured Marlon Wayans to star in their upcoming sports horror film “Goat.” The project, based on a pitch by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, is set to be directed by Justin Tipping, known for his work on “Kicks.”

The storyline revolves around a promising young athlete who receives an invitation to train with a team’s retiring star, leading to a psychological horror tale with sports elements. The casting decision for the young athlete character involved screen testing, but sources reveal that Marlon Wayans was always at the top of the studio’s list for the titular role.

Jordan Peele will produce the upcoming horror movie alongside Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, and Jamal Watson. Executive producers are David Kern and Kate Oh.

Wayans, celebrated for his versatile career, recently achieved a milestone with his first-ever stand-up comedy special, “Woke-ish,” premiered on Netflix in February 2018. His third comedy special for HBO Max, “Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me,” received acclaim and is part of his overall deal with the streaming service.

In addition to his successful stand-up career, Wayans had a notable guest hosting stint on The Daily Show in March 2023. On the acting front, he starred in Prime Video’s “AIR” alongside Matt Damon, Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck, as well as producing and starring in Netflix’s “The Curse of Bridge Hollow” in 2022.

Justin Tipping, a rising star in the director ranks, known for his debut feature “Kicks” and various television credits, is set to helm the film. Monkeypaw Productions, led by Jordan Peele, known for hit films like “Get Out” and “Us,” will produce “Goat” alongside Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, and Jamal Watson.
