Sinqua Walls’ Fly-Fishing Indie Drama ‘Mending the Line’ Gets Release Date [WATCH CLIP]

Sinqua Walls (White Men Can’t Jump) is set to star in the indie drama Mending the Line, which has been acquired by Blue Fox Entertainment for North America distribution, with a nationwide release in theaters on June 9th.

Sinqua Walls is starring in the indie drama ‘Mending the Line,’ opposite Brian Cox. The project which has been acquired by Blue Fox Entertainment for North America distribution, has been given a nationwide release in theaters on June 9th.

The film tells the story of Colter (Walls), a marine who returns home after being wounded in Afghanistan. His doctor, played by Patricia Heaton, introduces him to a Vietnam War veteran, portrayed by Cox, who teaches Colter to fly fish, hoping it will help him deal with his physical and emotional trauma.

Mending the Line opened the 2022 Woodstock Film Festival and won the Valor Award at the San Diego Film Festival, which is given to military-themed films that convey the impact of war while unfolding the emotional layers and human condition of fighting a war. The movie also stars Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark), Honorary Oscar winner Wes Studi (The Last of the Mohicans) and Chris Galust (Give Me Liberty).

Directed by Joshua Caldwell (Infamous) from a script written by Stephen Camelio, Mending the Line was made in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Entertainment Media Liaison Office and the U.S. Department of Defense, and was awarded a Big Sky Film Grant by the Montana Film Office. Carl Effenson (Mudbound) produced the film for Artimage Entertainment, along with Kelly McKendry of August Point Productions, Scott MacLeod of CKM Entertainment, Caldwell and Camelio. Cox and Walls serve as executive producers alongside Mark Comora and David Comora.

James Huntsman, of Blue Fox, expressed his excitement for the film, saying, “Joshua and Stephen have created a must-see movie in MENDING THE LINE. It has all of the elements audiences are craving today with a talented cast, beautiful vistas of the American west, an uplifting story and a nod to our veterans. We are proud to partner with the filmmakers on this story of hope and discovery.”

Director Caldwell also praised Blue Fox’s support of the film, saying, “Their support and belief in this film is a testament to their dedication to meaningful storytelling. I cannot wait for audiences to experience this film in theaters and I am grateful to have such incredible partners who share our passion for this story.”
