Get in the Ring: STARZ Drops the First Teaser Trailer for Crime Drama ‘Fightland’

The thrilling new series from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, set in the high-stakes world of British boxing, premieres July 31

STARZ has released the first teaser trailer for Fightland, the upcoming family crime drama set against the backdrop of London’s boxing scene, and it is already shaping up to be one of the most gripping series of the summer.

The show follows Duke Kilroy, a British-born boxer played by Howard Charles, who on the night he becomes world heavyweight champion suffers a devastating loss when a vicious assault leaves his brother Calvin dead. Duke’s reaction in the aftermath costs him eight years in a U.S. prison. Upon his release, and after making a sinister discovery, he returns home with one thing on his mind: vengeance against the man he believes set him up, criminal kingpin and former promoter Kingsley Marshall, played by Nicholas Pinnock.

But Kingsley has vanished, leaving behind his children and his wife Joy, played by Deborah Ayorinde, who also happens to be the love of Duke’s life. Working alongside a cartel desperate to control London’s drug market, Duke embarks on a dangerous game of infiltrating Kingsley’s empire from within, determined to smoke out his enemy no matter the cost.

The series also stars Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Cebella “Cece” Marshall, Charles Babalola as Ezekiel “Zeek” Marshall, Tahirah Sharif as Kim Harper, Tyler Conti as Justin “Jay” Hall, and Richard Pepple as Gary “Gazzer” Kilroy.

Executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through his G-Unit Film & Television, Fightland marks his first internationally produced series. The show is created by Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith, who also serve as executive producers and writers. Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr., both known for their work on Power, BMF, and Genius: MLK/X, serve as showrunners, executive producers, and writers. Otto Bathurst, known for directing Peaky Blinders, directs and executive produces the first two episodes. Francis Hopkinson and Kate Leadbetter of Expanded Media also executive produce.

Fightland also holds the distinction of being STARZ’s first wholly owned series as the network continues to build its fully owned programming pipeline as a standalone company.

Fightland premieres Friday, July 31, with new episodes streaming weekly on Fridays on the STARZ app and all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.
