NBC is set to premiere Suits LA, a high-stakes spinoff of the popular legal drama Suits, on February 23, 2025. The series, set in Los Angeles, is set to deliver the same legal intrigue and personal dynamics that made the original show a fan favorite. Stephen Amell leads the cast as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who has reinvented himself representing the city’s elite. The trailer, released earlier this week, sets the stage for the high-stakes drama that lies ahead, and it also reveals a major Suits Easter egg that ties the new series to its predecessor.
At the heart of the new show is Ted Black, played by Stephen Amell, a former federal prosecutor who has reinvented himself as a lawyer representing the city’s elite. The West Coast series explores Ted’s struggle to keep his law firm afloat, forcing him to take on a role he once despised in order to survive the professional and personal chaos surrounding him.
In the trailer, Ted is confronted by a potential client who critiques his lack of confidence, telling him, “You don’t represent me. I need someone with confidence.” Ted quickly asserts, “I’m the best attorney in the country,” setting the tone for the fierce competition that defines the series. Alongside him is his colleague Stuart Lane (Josh McDermitt), as the two attempt to navigate the growing crisis in their firm while dealing with rising personal conflicts.
Ted’s firm also sees major power shifts when Erica Rollins (Lex Scott Davis) is appointed Co-head of Entertainment, a decision that surprises her and stirs a brewing rivalry with fellow colleague Rick Dodsen (Bryan Greenberg). As the first season unfolds, loyalties are tested, and the lines between professional ambition and personal relationships become increasingly blurred.
One major draw for Suits fans is the return of Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, who reprises his role for a three-episode arc. A quick glimpse of a baseball photo of Ted and Harvey in the trailer suggests their past connection. Macht himself teased his return on social media, saying, “When an old friend is in need…it’s time to take care of things and make those very ‘things’ right.” This cameo promises to bridge the connection between Suits LA and the original series.
In addition to Amell, McDermitt, and Davis, Suits LA stars Troy Winbush and Victoria Justice. Guest stars include Patton Oswalt, Brian Baumgartner, Enrico Colantoni, Maggie Grace, Matt Letscher, Sofia Pernas, and Carson A. Egan, who will appear throughout the first season.
The series also marks the final on-screen appearance of legendary actor John Amos, who guest stars in the pilot episode as a version of himself. Amos’ character shares a long-standing friendship with Ted, and while there had been discussions of his character appearing in future episodes, his role will now be limited to the pilot. This bittersweet cameo adds a layer of emotional depth to the show, especially given Amos’ passing in late 2023.
Suits LA is created by Aaron Korsh, with Doug Liman, David Bartis, and others serving as executive producers. The series is directed by Victoria Mahoney, who helmed the pilot episode. Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, Suits LA promises to deliver the same legal intrigue and personal drama that fans have come to love from the Suits franchise.
