Tamara Lawrance Joins Gangs of London Season 4 as Production Gets Underway With New Creative Team and Expanded Cast

Filming is officially underway on Season 4 of Sky and AMC+’s hit crime drama Gangs of London, with the series returning to the streets of a city where power, loyalty, and survival are once again in flux. Alongside returning fan-favorite characters, the new season is adding fresh faces — most notably acclaimed British actress Tamara Lawrance, who joins the ensemble as Jo Malik.

The new season continues to escalate the stakes in the fractured criminal underworld of London, as shifting alliances, international threats, and political pressure converge on the city’s most dangerous players.

A City Under Pressure

Season 4 picks up as the looming threat of legalization and intensified government crackdowns begin tightening their grip on London’s gangs. The pressure forces rival factions into increasingly unstable territory, where survival is no longer guaranteed and trust becomes a liability.

At the center of the chaos is Elliot Carter, played by Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, who returns from exile on a violent path toward redemption that ultimately pulls him back into the city’s orbit. But London is not the same place he left behind.

According to the official logline, Elliot’s return collides with rising tensions across the criminal ecosystem — from the Wallaces to Luan, Lale, and beyond — as a new external force enters the game.

That force arrives in the form of Zeek Kimura, whose reemergence is backed by a ruthless international syndicate, pushing London’s power struggle into even more volatile and unpredictable territory.

Returning Cast and Expanding Ensemble

Alongside Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, the series sees the return of several key players, including Michelle Fairley, Andrew Koji, and Narges Rashidi, as well as Brian Vernel, Orli Shuka, T’Nia Miller, Valene Kane, and Pippa Bennett-Warner.

Season 4 also expands its international scope with new additions including Tamara Lawrance as Jo Malik, alongside Luna Fujimoto as Hanaka, Eugene Nomura as Takeshi Kimura, and Melika Foroutan as Zerin — signaling a broader global influence on the show’s already complex power structure.

Behind the Camera: A Creative Shift

The new season also marks a notable creative transition for the series. Jack Lothian (Who Is Erin Carter?) steps in as lead writer and executive producer, bringing a fresh narrative direction to the franchise. Direction is led by Jean Luc Herbulot (Zero), known for his kinetic visual style and genre-driven storytelling.

Additional episodes will be directed by Lynsey Miller (Surface) and Eran Creevy (The Gentlemen), reinforcing the show’s reputation for high-intensity, cinematic action sequences.

The writing team also includes returning Season 3 writer Jerome Bucchan-Nelson (1899), alongside Meg Salter (The Rig) and Abi Hynes.

Production and Franchise Legacy

Produced by VICE Studios, Gangs of London continues under the creative oversight of original series creators Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, who remain executive producers on the project.

Other executive producers include Hugh Warren and Claire Marshall for VICE Studios, Thomas Benski, Jamie Hall, and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, with Adrian Sturges representing Sky. James Levison serves as series producer, with Saba Kia as associate producer.

The series will air on Sky and NOW in the UK and Ireland, with AMC+ carrying the show in the United States. International distribution is handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.

What to Expect From Season 4

If the early details are any indication, Season 4 is doubling down on what Gangs of London does best — high-stakes power struggles, brutal confrontations, and morally complex characters navigating a collapsing order.

With external syndicates entering the fray and London’s political landscape tightening around its criminal networks, the new season promises a more global, more volatile evolution of the story.

And with Tamara Lawrance joining the ensemble alongside an already stacked cast, Season 4 is shaping up to be one of the series’ most ambitious chapters yet.
