In the adrenaline-pumping action-comedy The Killer’s Game, the stakes have never been higher—or more personal. The film follows Joe Flood, portrayed by Dave Bautista, a top hitman who, after receiving a terminal diagnosis, decides to orchestrate his own assassination. But when the very hitmen he hired turn their attention to his ex-girlfriend, Maize (Sofia Boutella), Joe must fend off a horde of deadly colleagues and reclaim the love of his life before time runs out.
Directed by J.J. Perry, known for his work on the John Wick series and The Fate of the Furious, the film is based on the novel by Jay R. Bonansinga, with a screenplay by Rand Ravich and James Coyne. Perry, who made his directorial debut with Day Shift, brings his expertise in action choreography to The Killer’s Game, so expect a film filled with stylish and kinetic action sequences.
Alongside Bautista and Boutella, and Terry Crews as Lovedahl, Pom Klementieff plays the vengeful Marianna, while Ben Kingsley appears as Zvi. The supporting cast includes Scott Adkins as Angus Mackenzie, Drew McIntyre as Rory Mackenzie, Shaina West, Lucy Cork, Daniel Bernhardt as Radovan, Lee Hoon as Goyang, Marko Zaror as Botas, and Raffaello Degruttola as Dr. Kagen.
The cast also features a dynamic reunion between Bautista and Klementieff, who previously worked together in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, where Bautista’s Drax and Klementieff’s Mantis shared a memorable on-screen bond. In The Killer’s Game, however, their relationship takes a darker turn as Klementieff plays Marianna, a vengeful assassin who’s part of the hit squad coming after Joe Flood.
The trailer teases a high-octane spectacle with stylish action sequences and a touch of dark humor. The Killer’s Game is set to hit theaters on September 13, 2024, aligning with a busy month for action enthusiasts, with the release of Beetlejuice 2 and Blumhouse’s Speak No Evil.
