‘The Bear’ Renewed for Season 5 at FX Following Season 4 Premiere

the bear season 5 renewed

FX isn’t saying goodbye to The Bear anytime soon.

Just days after the Season 4 premiere on June 25, the network has officially renewed the Emmy-winning drama for a fifth season. The announcement ensures that Carmy, Sidney and crew will be back, with Season 5 set to stream on Hulu in 2026.

FX chairman John Landgraf praised the show’s continued success, stating: “The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide, and their response to this season — as seen through incredibly high viewership — has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons. Year-in and year-out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast, and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television.”

While FX and Hulu haven’t dropped specific viewing figures for Season 4, previous seasons have delivered strong streaming numbers. Season 3 spent six weeks on Nielsen’s streaming top 10, racking up over 4.5 billion viewing minutes despite its binge-release format.

The critically acclaimed series stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a world-class chef who returns to Chicago to run his late brother’s sandwich shop. Over time, The Bear transforms from a chaotic kitchen comedy into a masterclass in pressure, grief, ambition, and resilience.

Season 4 Recap:

Filmed back-to-back with Season 3, Season 4 dives straight into the fallout of opening The Bear—a fine-dining reimagining of the former Original Beef. But the restaurant’s launch was just the beginning.

Now, Carmy is obsessed with maintaining excellence, which means he’s also pushing everyone—and himself—to their breaking points. Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) begins to question whether this shared vision is still hers, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) longs to be seen as more than front-of-house, and Marcus (Lionel Boyce) quietly processes grief as he tries to focus on his craft.

Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas) finds her footing in a leadership role, while the season also carves out space for emotional, character-driven storytelling—including a standout episode centered on Sydney’s cousin, played by Danielle Deadwyler.

The tension is still simmering, but so is the beauty. And yes, the food remains a visual and emotional centerpiece.

Returning cast includes Abby Elliott, Matty Matheson, Oliver Platt, and Molly Gordon. The series is created by Christopher Storer, who also executive produces alongside Josh Senior, Joanna Calo, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Hiro Murai, Rene Gube, and Matty Matheson. Courtney Storer serves as co-EP and culinary producer. FX Productions produces.

Season 5 of The Bear arrives in 2026. Until then, consider this season’s “Goodbye” more of a palate cleanser than a finale.
