'The Continental' Trailer

Peacock has unleashed the official trailer for its upcoming John Wick spinoff miniseries, “The Continental: From the World of John Wick.” Set against the backdrop of the 1970s, this new addition to the iconic action franchise promises to dive into the origins of the infamous hotel-for-assassins, The Continental, and its enigmatic proprietor, Winston Scott.

The trailer opens with a glimpse into the grim and gritty criminal underworld of 1970s New York City. Colin Woodell steps into the role of Winston Scott, a younger version of the character portrayed by Ian McShane in the main John Wick film series. The audience is transported back in time, as Winston navigates the treacherous landscape of crime and chaos, wrestling with his own past.

The plot is set in motion when a mysterious figure named Cormac, portrayed by the legendary Mel Gibson, tasks Winston with a high-stakes mission. Winston’s brother, Frankie, has stolen a valuable object from The Continental, an act that sets off a chain reaction of events that will forever alter the course of their lives. Cormac ominously describes the stolen item as “very important to a lot of dangerous people,” setting the stage for a heart-pounding battle for control.

As the tension escalates, Winston embarks on a perilous journey to retrieve the stolen object and save his brother from the clutches of Cormac and the vengeful forces of The Continental. To achieve this daunting task, he assembles a motley crew of criminals and fighters, uniting them under a common goal: seizing control of the iconic hotel itself.

In addition to Woodell and Gibson, the show features a talented ensemble cast, including Ayomide Adegun, who portrays a younger version of the character Charon, originally played by the late Lance Reddick in the main film series. Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Jeremy Bobb, and Peter Greene round out the impressive cast.

Basil Iwanyk, the mastermind behind the John Wick series, expressed his excitement for the spinoff’s exploration of characters’ origins and the hotel’s evolution. He remarked, “Combine that with introducing new characters that are as compelling as any in the John Wick universe. Action that’s crazy cool and inventive. Easter eggs that will excite the hardcore Wick fans.”

A central focus of the series is Winston’s transformation from a man grappling with his past to the leader who eventually takes the reins of The Continental. His journey delves deep into the heart of the enigmatic hotel’s mysterious underworld, revealing the dark secrets and intricate web of alliances that shape its history.

“The Continental: From the World of John Wick” is not only a thrilling action-packed spectacle but also a visual homage to the gritty allure of 1970s New York City. The series promises to capture the essence of the era’s sexiness, edginess, and visceral style that fans have come to associate with the franchise.
