Lionsgate has just sealed a significant deal, securing domestic rights for “The Crow” remake led by Bill Skarsgård, FKA twigs and Danny Huston.
This reimagining of the 1994 cult classic, which is famously remembered for Brandon Lee’s last film role, is directed by Rupert Sanders.The script for this remake is penned by Zach Baylin and Will Schneider. Alongside the lead cast, you can expect to see ‘The Woman King’s Jordan Bolger, Laura Birn, and Sami Bouajila.

For those unfamiliar with the original storyline, “The Crow” is a revenge thriller where a man who is brutally murdered comes back to life as an undead avenger seeking justice for his and his fiancée’s deaths. Both films are based on the graphic novel of the gothic character created, written, and illustrated by James O’Barr.
According to Deadline, as the TIFF festival and market are in full swing, Lionsgate acquired domestic rights for the remake in an eight-figure deal.
Producers for ‘The Crow’ remake are Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, John Jencks, the late Samuel Hadida, and the late Edward R. Pressman. Production companies involved in this project are Davis Films, Hassell Free Productions, Electric Shadow Company, and Pressman Film, currently led by Sam Pressman. Notable executive producers include Dan Farah.
Filming for this ambitious project took place on location in Prague and Munich, with a substantial budget of $50 million. International sales for the film are being handled by FilmNation, which has already secured numerous deals.
It’s worth noting that “The Crow” originally found its roots in the graphic novel published by Caliber Comics in 1989. The 1994 film directed by Alex Proyas became a tragic production due to the accidental shooting that claimed the life of its star, Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee.
