First it was Winnie The Pooh, now its the Grinch. We get he’s the mean one but XYZ films is taking that term literal. The Mean One is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 9, 2022.
Steven LaMorte is directing The Mean One, which takes a dark parody to the classic Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This version follows the grinch character as he goes on a murderous rampage in a sleepy mountain town during the holiday season.
Jim Carrey portrayed the lighter version of the mean one in that film 22 years ago. Because this version is very unauthorized it goes to great lengths to never use the language of the original book.
David Howard Thornton stars as The Grinch who butchered Cindy You-Know-Who’s (Krystle Martin) parents when she was just a kid. Now she’s returning to the sleepy mountain town of Newville twenty years later, as the ravenous monster begins to re-terrorize the town. As he threatens to ruin the holiday, she finds a new purpose in stopping the beast.
It also stars Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, and Amy Schumacher.
The Mean One is just one of the many holiday films taking a dark and twisted route this year. David Harbour is portraying a bloody Santa Claus in Violent Night.
That movie will release in cinemas on December 2 and sees a wealthy family attacked on Christmas Eve, which means it’s time for Saint Nick (played by Harbour) to step in and save them – and Christmas in the process. Check out the trailer below.
