LaToya Stirrup, along with her sisters, developed KAZMALEJE after growing tired of long wash days and excessive hair shedding. Inspired by finger detangling techniques, their KAZMALEJE hair tools quickly gained popularity and can now be found in mass retail stores. They have revolutionized the haircare industry by catering to diverse hair types and simplifying haircare routines.

Neil Hudson, together with his childhood friends, founded Scotch Boyz after winning a BBQ competition in Jamaica. Their delicious sauces and seasonings, infused with the unique flavors of the island, garnered significant attention and demand. Scotch Boyz is now dedicated to bringing the taste of Jamaica to people worldwide, allowing them to savor the authentic flavors of the Caribbean.

“The Next Black Millionaires” offers an intimate exploration of the entrepreneurs’ journeys, delving into their triumphs, challenges, and personal growth. As they navigate obstacles, build relationships, and scale their businesses, the docuseries emphasizes the importance of community support. All six episodes will be available for streaming on The Roku Channel starting from Friday, July 7. Viewers can access The Roku Channel via Roku devices or TVs, online at TheRokuChannel.com, on iOS and Android devices, Amazon Fire TVs, and select Samsung TVs.

Cara Sabin, CEO at SheaMoisture and CEO of Beauty & Wellbeing, Unilever North America, expressed her excitement about the docuseries, highlighting SheaMoisture’s commitment to the Black community. Sabin stated, “We are thrilled to debut this docuseries because we get to highlight these three amazing entrepreneurs. We also get to shed light on what the path to a million-dollar business looks like, the power of intentional investment, and the nuances in the journey experienced by Black business owners.”

Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals at Roku Media, emphasized the significance of partnering with SheaMoisture and MACRO Television Studios for this inspiring series. Tannenbaum stated, “‘The Next Black Millionaires’ demonstrates how Roku can work in unison with a great brand partner to not only produce standout content but also harness the undisputed power of the platform to bring that content to millions of streamers.”

The docuseries was brought to life by showrunner and executive producer Erika Bryant, alongside Stacey Walker King and Aisha Corpas Wynn from MACRO Television Studios, Richelieu Dennis of New Voices, and SheaMoisture and parent company Unilever representatives, including Cara Sabin, Simone Jordan, and Kelly Mullen.

Stacey Walker King, Chief Brand Officer at MACRO and Executive Producer of the series, expressed her enthusiasm for the project. King stated, “We believe that the stories of these three talented founders will not only illuminate the entrepreneurial journey that is so often hidden behind the scenes but will also encourage and inspire a new generation of business owners and leaders.”

To further support the entrepreneurial endeavors of these trailblazers, SheaMoisture is proud to announce that Target will feature select products from each winner’s brand in 600 of its nationwide locations and on Target.com starting from July 9. This opportunity for expanded distribution and exposure will enable the entrepreneurs to scale their businesses and reach a broader customer base.

SheaMoisture’s commitment to investing in the Black community and fostering Black generational wealth goes beyond the Next Black Millionaires program. Following Unilever’s acquisition of Sundial Brands, the parent company of SheaMoisture, the New Voices Fund was established. With funding from Unilever and Sundial’s founder, Richelieu Dennis, the fund invests in entrepreneurs of color. As a result, 18 millionaires have been created through the fund’s initial investment.

Prior to the series launch, SheaMoisture and Roku will host a special screening of “The Next Black Millionaires” at the brand’s “A Great Day in Harlem” pop-up activation during the Essence Festival of Culture on Saturday, July 1, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Roku Channel, launched in 2017, serves as a home for free and premium entertainment on the Roku platform. With an estimated 100 million viewers in U.S. households during Q4 2022, The Roku Channel has become a top channel on the platform, offering a diverse lineup of more than 80,000 free movies and programs, as well as over 350 free live linear television channels.
