Max has officially released the trailer for The Pitt, its upcoming medical drama starring Noah Wyle. The series, produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television, dives into the high-stakes world of an emergency room in Pittsburgh, following the action in real time over the course of a single shift.

The show will debut with two episodes on Thursday, January 9, and continue with weekly releases every Thursday until the season finale on April 10.

Noah Wyle leads the cast as Dr. Michael Rabinavitch. The trailer opens with a striking line from a colleague: “We’re f**ked. Fifty-two in the waiting room and it’s not even 7 o’clock.” The tagline—“15 episodes, 15 hours, 1 shift”—emphasizes the real-time pacing of the show, offering an immersive glimpse into the intense challenges facing healthcare workers.

Joining Wyle in the cast are series regulars Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Katherine LaNasa. Recurring cast members include Shawn Hatosy (Animal Kingdom), Michael Hyatt (Snowfall), Jalen Thomas Brooks (Thanksgiving), Brandon Mendez Homer (The Good Fight), Kristin Villanueva (Bonding), Amielynn Abellera (The Cleaning Lady), Alexandra Metz (Chicago Fire), Krystel V. McNeil (South Side), and Deepti Gupta (For All Mankind).

Created by ER alum R. Scott Gemmill, who also serves as showrunner, The Pitt examines the realities of healthcare in modern America, highlighting the dedication and resilience of frontline medical workers. Gemmill wrote the series premiere and executive produces alongside Wyle, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Simran Baidwan, and Michael Hissrich.

The production has faced controversy, including a breach of contract lawsuit from the widow of ER creator Michael Crichton, who alleges similarities to the iconic medical drama. Warner Bros. Television has denied the claims, and litigation is ongoing.

The Pitt represents a unique approach for Max, as it was designed as a modestly budgeted, broadcast-style drama for streaming. The series also uses a fixed-fee payment model for its supporting cast.
