Andy Allo, known for Amazon’s Upload, has joined ABC’s The Rookie: North as a guest star playing Brooke, a warm, smart, and effortlessly charming first-year ER resident still adjusting to the pressures of the job. Brooke handles the stress with humor, empathy, and confidence, and quickly forms a connection with Alex Holland, the show’s lead rookie officer played by Jay Ellis. The series is set to premiere in 2027.
The Rookie: North expands ABC’s procedural franchise into new territory. The show follows Alex, a man who believed his life was past the point of a midlife crisis until a violent home invasion pushes him to confront a lifetime of failed commitments by joining the Pierce County Police Department. Policing stretches from the urban coast to rural forest in Washington state, where backup isn’t always minutes away, forcing Alex to prove himself to a skeptical training officer, his fellow rookies, and himself. Nathan Fillion will appear in the pilot episode reprising his role as John Nolan, a crossover that mirrors Alex’s own journey as a late-in-life rookie.
This marks the franchise’s second spinoff attempt, following The Rookie: Feds, which starred Niecy Nash-Betts as Simone Clark, a former school counselor who became the oldest rookie agent at the FBI Academy. Feds was canceled after one season in late 2023 amid Hollywood strike-related scheduling disruptions. ABC moving forward with a second spinoff despite that cancellation reflects the network’s continued investment in the format, this time built around a different setting and cast rather than a direct continuation of Feds’ approach.
Allo joins a cast that includes Chris Sullivan as Sgt. Nix, the watch commander; Janet Montgomery as Charlotte Dru, Alex’s training officer; Karen Fukuhara as Leah Mizuno; Froy Gutierrez as Odell Chance; Mya Lowe as Elora Howe; and Malik Watson as Mark Lewis. Alexi Hawley serves as executive producer and writer, alongside Fillion, Mark Gordon, Bill Norcross, and Michelle Chapman, with Ellis also producing. Allo previously recurred on NBC’s Chicago Fire as Lieutenant Wendy Seager, and her film credits include Netflix’s Absolute Dominion and Pitch Perfect 3.
With Fillion’s crossover tying North directly back to the original series and a cast now fully in place, the next thing to watch is how the show’s rural Washington setting distinguishes it from both the flagship series and Feds’ short-lived run.
