The official trailer is here for Coven Academy, the new supernatural teen drama from executive producer Tim Federle, offering a deeper look at the series ahead of its October 1 premiere on Freeform at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The full season drops the next day on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform On Demand.
Set to New Orleans, Coven Academy follows three teenage witches Briar (Malina Weissman), Sasha (Jordan Leftwich), and Tegan (Ora Duplass) and their warlock peers at an elite magic boarding school where power is currency, secrets are lethal, and attraction is a liability. Caught between ancient supernatural wars and forbidden romance, the coven must decide how far they’re willing to go to protect their city, and themselves.
Set to Olivia Rodrigo’s “Brutal,” the trailer centers on Briar as she struggles to hone her newfound powers as a witch, while navigating a turbulent love triangle between Jake (Malachi Barton) and Ollie (Louis Thresher).
Weissman stars as Briar, a fiercely independent New Yorker who discovers she’s a witch. Barton plays Jake, a magnetic warlock with a dangerous edge, while Louis Thresher plays Ollie, a hungry, newly turned vampire. The cast also includes Jordan Leftwich as Sasha, a deeply empathic student who can read minds; Ora Duplass as Tegan, an irreverent time-bending witch; and Tiffani Thiessen as Miss Graves, the formidable and glamorous head of the school. Devon Sawa appears as special guest star Mr. Cole, a brilliant and charismatic warlock professor.
The recurring cast includes BJ Harrison as Agnes, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese. Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, and Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora.
Federle created the series and executive produces alongside Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Amanda Row, and Bronwyn North-Reist. Coven Academy is produced by Federle’s Chorus Boy Productions in association with Disney Kids & Family.
