Netflix has released the official trailer for Seriously Single Too, the sequel to the hit 2020 South African romantic comedy, premiering October 16.
The film reunites best friends Dineo (Fulu Mugovhani) and Noni (Tumi Morake), whose plans to take on the party scene together hit an unexpected snag when Noni’s boyfriend spontaneously proposes. Dineo throws herself into planning an over-the-top bachelorette getaway, teaming up with a TikToker and her cousin for a trip that spirals into a chain of chaos, forcing the two friends to reevaluate both their friendship and themselves.
Directed by Katleho Ramaphakela and Rethabile “Retti” Ramaphakela, with a script by Lwazi Mvusi, the film also stars Buntu Petse, Yonda Thomas, Thabiso Rammusi, and Keke Mphuthi. It’s produced by Burnt Onion Productions.
The original Seriously Single followed Dineo, a social media manager and serial monogamist, as she rebuilds her sense of self after a public breakup, with Noni, her commitment-phobic best friend, showing her how to embrace single life. The sequel picks the pair back up years later, this time testing their bond against the pressures of a wedding neither saw coming.
Seriously Single Too was unveiled as part of a broader slate Netflix announced to mark 10 years of operating in South Africa, revealed at a press showcase in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The streamer says its South African originals have supported more than 8,000 jobs through partnerships with over 30 local production companies. Other titles on the slate include Blood Legacy Season 2 (launching September 25), How to Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents (October 30), Another Disaster Holiday (December 11), Tuiskoms Season 2, Love Is Blind: South Africa, the wedding docu-soap Stars and Vows: Anele & Buzza, and new seasons of Marked and Meet the Khumalos, currently in production.
