Trailer Drops for Mark E. Swinton’s Four-Part Mystery Drama ‘Route 187,’ Executive Produced by Tyler Perry

The trailer has arrived for Route 187, a four-part mystery drama created, written, and directed by Mark E. Swinton under Tyler Perry Studios, set to premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on September 16.

The series stars Chris Livingston, Tavi Lee, Elijah Collins, Tonia Jackson, Rico Ball, Lawrence Robinson, Rona Dana, Cuyle Carvin, and Javen Lewis, among others.

Set in the fictional, crumbling city of South Winslow, the series centers on residents who rely on the city’s bus route and the headline-inspired stories of survival, endurance, and urban violence that define their lives. The story kicks off with the brutal murders of a bus driver and a high school basketball star, beaten to death on a bus, igniting community outrage and drawing authorities into a hunt for the culprits caught on video. As the investigation unfolds, a second thread emerges: vulnerable Black women have been going missing in the area, and the two cases begin to intersect. At the center of it all is Emp, who runs South Winslow and finds the city’s escalating chaos becoming a very personal problem.

Swinton, who also plays Emp, also serves as executive producer alongside Tyler Perry. The supporting cast includes Erika Pinkett as Tamara, Bryce Jenkins, Clark Moore as Lt. Jeff Gibson, Nicky Buggs as Tory Martin, Bibby Bankz as Thugger, Kerby Collins as Darrell, Josef Cannon as Paul Crawford, Jesse Lewis IV, Alphonso A’Qen-Aten Jackson, Braxton Beth, and Khristee Love, among others.

The series was produced by Asante White, Armani Ortiz, and Deance’ Wyatt, with cinematography by Anastas Michos, editing by Armani Ortiz, production design by Dan Clancy, and a score by Andrew Morgan Smith. Joel C. High serves as music supervisor.

Route 187 premieres September 16 on Paramount+.
