"True Detective: Night Country" Unveils Chilling Trailer for Season 4

HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country” Season 4 trailer intensifies the suspense, focusing on the eerie darkness of Alaska. Jodie Foster and Kali Reis star as Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro, investigating the mysterious disappearance of eight scientists from an arctic research station. The logline teases a journey where they must confront their inner darkness to unveil haunted truths beneath the eternal ice.

This season features two female leads, a first in the show’s decade-long history. The fourth season premieres on HBO Max Jan. 14.

The cast includes Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes, with guest appearances by Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, June Thiele, Diane Benson, and Joel D. Montgrand. Jodie Foster’s return to on-screen TV series work since the early ’70s adds to the anticipation.

The trailer, featuring the iconic crooked spiral, expands on earlier teasers, offering more insights into the compelling case. Showrunner Issa López, who wrote and directed every episode, leads a stellar production team. Executive producers include Foster, Mari Jo Winkler, Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak, Chris Mundy, Alan Page Arriaga, Steve Golin, Richard Brown, and Nic Pizzolatto. Season one EPs Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, and Cary Joji Fukunaga, along with Princess Daazhraii Johnson, Cathy Tagnak Rexford, and Sam Breckman, contribute to the series.

Original show creator Nic Pizzolatto isn’t involved in the new series beyond contractual credits.
