Start your engines, because Twisted Metal is back and things are about to get way more unhinged.

Peacock officially announced that Season 2 of its high-octane action-comedy will premiere July 31, and dropped a fresh teaser to mark the occasion. While the footage keeps most plot details close to the vest, it does give us a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse of Calypso, the twisted tournament mastermind played by Anthony Carrigan, plus that bone-chilling giggle from Sweet Tooth — yep, he’s still got it.

But the real mayhem is just getting started.

This season picks up right where the first left off. After surviving the chaos of Season 1, John Doe (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) find themselves involuntarily entered into the Twisted Metal tournament — a no-holds-barred demolition derby hosted by Calypso, who promises the last driver standing will be granted one wish. Problem is, every other contestant wants their dream too… and they’re all willing to kill for it.

Things get even messier when John crosses paths with a familiar face: Dollface, his long-lost sister, who’s not exactly thrilled to see him. It’s family reunion meets blood-soaked battle royale, and no one’s leaving unchanged — or in one piece.

Returning cast and new chaos

Season 2 brings back Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa (aka Samoa Joe) as the split-personality menace Sweet Tooth, alongside Mackie, Beatriz, and an expanded lineup of guest stars including:

  • Saylor Bell Curda
  • Patty Guggenheim
  • Michael James Shaw
  • Tiana Okoye
  • Lisa Gilroy
  • Richard de Klerk

Behind the wheel of this wild ride is showrunner and executive producer Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai), along with a powerhouse team of EPs: Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool), Will Arnett, Marc Forman, Jason Spire, Grant Dekernion, Peter Principato, and key figures from PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

Directors this season include Phil Sgriccia, Bill Benz, Iain MacDonald, and Bertie Ellwood, each helming back-to-back episodes of carnage, comedy, and character-driven chaos.

“The stakes couldn’t be higher,” said Smith. “It’s fast-paced, hysterical, thrilling — with unforgettable characters. It’s just too bad not all of them will survive.”

What to Expect in Season 2

From blood-soaked showdowns to twisted wish-fulfillment, Twisted Metal is doubling down on everything that made the first season a surprise hit. Expect more outrageous vehicles, more explosive stunts, and more backstory for your favorite deranged drivers.

With Calypso finally entering the fray and Sweet Tooth back to his murderous antics, fans are in for a wild summer binge.
