On Tuesday, sept. 24, Netflix treated fans to the highly anticipated first trailer of Beauty in Black, Tyler Perry’s latest series. Known for his compelling storytelling, Perry’s newest project showcases a dramatic collision between two very different women.
The teaser opens with Mallory, portrayed by Crystle Stewart, confidently stepping out of a lavish mansion. Throughout the action-filled preview, Mallory is seen giving powerful speeches to an audience of women, commanding attention at every turn. Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, is immediately captivated by Mallory’s presence, remarking, “Her family owns all of this. Wonder what her life is like.”
The sharp dialogue continues with one of Kimmie’s friends humorously adding, “I bet she ain’t stayin’ in no pay-by-the-week hotel.”
Though Mallory and Kimmie come from contrasting worlds—Mallory a successful businesswoman and Kimmie struggling to make ends meet after being kicked out by her mother—their lives intertwine in the fiery trailer. Scenes of tension escalate with one character getting slapped and another hit by a truck, setting the stage for a high-stakes drama.
“Beautiful and deadly,” one character describes Mallory, to which she confidently responds, “Beauty in Black, baby.”

Netflix has officially revealed the premiere date, teaser, and first-look images for Tyler Perry’s upcoming drama series, Beauty in Black. This marks Perry’s debut drama series for the streaming giant and explores the contrasting lives and intense drama of two young women.
The series introduces viewers to Kimmie, portrayed by Taylor Polidore Williams, and Mallory, played by Crystle Stewart. Their worlds, though vastly different, converge in a whirlwind of intrigue, high-speed action, and romance.
