Warner Bros. has officially dropped the first trailer for Sinners, the highly anticipated horror film directed by Ryan Coogler, best known for his work on Black Panther and Creed. Starring Michael B. Jordan in a dual role, the film follows twin brothers who return to their hometown in an attempt to escape their troubled past, only to find an even greater evil awaiting them.
Coogler, an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, has also written the script for Sinners, which is slated to hit theaters nationwide on March 7, 2025. The film is set in the Jim Crow-era South and promises to weave elements of supernatural folklore, with a particular focus on vampires. The narrative complexity is rumored to be heightened by Jordan’s portrayal of twin brothers, marking a significant milestone in his already illustrious career.
In addition to Jordan, the film features a robust ensemble cast, including Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, Jayme Lawson, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O’Connell, Hailee Steinfeld, Li Jun Li, Lola Kirke, Emonie Ellison, Ja’Quan Monroe-Henderson, Yao, Miles Caton, Peter Dreimanis, and Christian Robinson.
The film features a star-studded cast including Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Bumblebee), Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Wunmi Mosaku (Passenger), Jayme Lawson (The Woman King), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari), and Omar Benson Miller (True Lies). Emerging talents such as Li Jun Li, Lola Kirke, and Emonie Ellison will also play key roles.
Produced by Coogler’s company, Proximity Media, alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, Sinners has attracted considerable buzz in Hollywood. The production team includes several of Coogler’s long-time collaborators from the Black Panther franchise: Autumn Durald Arkapaw as director of photography, Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler, and costume designer Ruth E. Carter. Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson also returns, both as the film’s music composer and an executive producer, ensuring that Sinners will have a strong creative backbone.
The film’s setting, paired with supernatural elements, will delve into themes of fear, redemption, and the dark legacies of the South. Warner Bros. secured the rights to Sinners after an intense bidding war, signaling high expectations for its box office performance. The studio is also planning for IMAX screenings, further highlighting its potential as a major horror release.
