Wanda Sykes joins season 5 of The Good Fight in a recurring position.
In the fifth season, Diane (Christine Baranski) is forced to question whether it’s appropriate for her to help run an African American law firm with Liz (Audra McDonald) when the firm loses two top lawyers. Meanwhile, Marissa (Sarah Steele) and the firm become entangled with Hal Wackner (Mandy Patinkin), a regular Chicagoan who decides to open his own courtroom in the back of a copy shop.
She will play Allegra Durado, a brilliant, strategic attorney who’s been away from the law for ten years while trying to finish her white whale of a book.
“Our holy grail of casting is always to find dramatic actors who can also deliver the comedy, and that pretty much defines Wanda,” the show’s creators Robert and Michelle King said. “We couldn’t feel more fortunate to be working with her.”
She joins stars Michael Boatman, Nyambi Nyambi, and Zach Grenier. Wayne Brady, Mandy Patinkin, Charmaine Bingwa, Jane Lynch, like Sykes are also joining this season.
Cush Jumbo, Delroy Lindo, who both departed The Good Fight in season 4, will guest star to finish out their storylines that were cut short due to COVID.
The Good Fight season 5 premieres Thursday, June 24 on Paramount+ with new episodes of the 10-episode long season dropping weekly on Thursday.
