Starz has dropped the full trailer for S.W.A.T. Exiles ahead of the series premiere on September 25, and it fills in the full picture of what brings Hondo back and what he is walking into.
After a botched raid ends in the death of a young operator named Nico Reyes, Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Shemar Moore) is forced to walk away from the only life he has known. His old commanding officer Robert Hicks (Patrick St. Esprit) offers him one last shot at redemption: build a brand new S.W.A.T. unit from LA’s most talented rejects.
The result is a squad nobody expected. Sammy Bishop (Lucy Barrett) is a gun-show influencer with something to prove. Ethan Cole (Freddy Miyares) is a socially awkward tactical savant. Cassidy Reed (Zyra Gorecki) is guarded and determined to earn her place. Jude Callan (Ronen Rubinstein) is a wildcard with a troubled past. Malik Anderson (Adain Bradley) is sharp, ambitious and hiding more than anyone realizes. Jay Harrington and David Lim also return from the original series.
As the Exiles take on LA’s most volatile threats, including cartel assassins and gun runners, Hondo begins pulling on a thread he cannot let go. Someone inside his own unit has been feeding information to outside interests, and someone with real power wants S.W.A.T. gone, replaced by something more private, more controllable and far less accountable.
S.W.A.T. Exiles was commissioned by Sony Pictures Television without a traditional network partner, eventually landing at Starz. Jason Ning serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Moore, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, James Scura and Jon Cowan.
S.W.A.T. Exiles premieres September 25 on Starz, with new episodes airing weekly on Fridays.
