Zazie Beetz is cast to star in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming HBO Max limited series Full Circle.
According to the logline, Full Circle is centered on an investigation into a botched kidnapping. That investigation uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in present day New York City.
Beetz is believed to be playing an agent for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service but exact details on Beetz’ character are being kept under wraps.
The show, which HBO Max ordered all the way back in August 2021 will consist of six episodes. All of which Soderbergh is directing and executive producing. Ed Solomon is attached to write and executive produce as well. Casey Silver will also executive produce. This is the second time the above trio is working together. They previously worked together on the HBO Max film No Sudden Move.
It was announced in January 2020 that Soderbergh had signed a multi-year overall deal with HBO and HBO Max that would see him develop television series across both platforms, with the deal also including a first-look deal for films. He previously directed the feature “Let Them All Talk” for the streamer in addition to “No Sudden Move.” He is also an executive producer on the HBO Max unscripted series “The Real Magic Mike.”
Beetz is best known for playing Van in the hit FX series Atlanta. That role earned her a 2018 Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in a comedy. The fourth and final season of that series will premiere on Sept. 15. Currently Beetz is starring opposite Brian Tyree Henry, Brad Pitt, and more in Bullet Train. Her other credits include The Harder They Fall, Deadpool 2, and more. She is repped by Entertainment 360, WME and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern.
