A24 Unveils Release Date for Ti West's Horror Flick 'MaXXXine' Starring Giancarlo Esposito and Moses Sumney [TRAILER]

A24 has announced the release date for “MaXXXine,” the third installment in Ti West’s horror trilogy, starring the franchise’s leading actress, Mia Goth. Timed perfectly for the upcoming SXSW season, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 5, 2024.

The journey of “MaXXXine” follows the success of the first movie, “X,” which premiered at SXSW in 2022, and its sequel, “Pearl.” Goth, recognized as the franchise’s main scream queen, reprises her role as Maxine Minx from “X.” Co-written by Goth and West, the plot unfolds six years after the events of “X,” with Maxine pursuing fame as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.

The retro teaser for “MaXXXine” hints at a thrilling narrative that blends horror and suspense. Joining Mia Goth in the cast are Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon, forming an impressive ensemble.

The Independence Day release strategy has proven successful for A24 in the past, notably with Ari Aster’s “Midsommar.” Other genre films set to go wide during the summer holiday include “Despicable Me 4,” “Possum Trot,” and the action-packed “Kill.”

With a production team that includes A24, Jacob Jaffke, West, Goth, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss, “MaXXXine” is anticipated to captivate audiences and add to the success of its predecessors. The combined global gross of “X” and “Pearl” has reached close to $25 million.

Ti West has hinted at a possible fourth film, expressing, “There is this one weird idea that I have that is kind of… if I explained it, it would make sense. But we’ll see what happens. Let’s get this movie done first, see if people like it. Then we’ll go from there.”

Despite the excitement surrounding the release, the film faces controversy after a background actor accused Mia Goth of misconduct during filming. As fans eagerly await the trailer, “MaXXXine” promises to be a compelling addition to the X trilogy, offering horror enthusiasts a thrilling and nostalgic experience. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release.
