Aja Naomi King, known for her role in “How To Get Away With Murder,” returns to broadcast television as a lead in NBC’s drama pilot “Grosse Pointe Garden Society.” She joins previously cast lead Melissa Fumero, AnnaSophia Robb, and Ben Rappaport. The series comes from Jenna Bans, Bill Krebs, and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

The upcoming drama centers around four members of a suburban garden club, namely Birdie (played by Fumero), Alice (Robb), Brett (Rappaport), and Catherine (King). These characters, hailing from diverse backgrounds, find themselves entangled in murder and mischief amidst their quest to nurture their conventional lives into flourishing ones.

King’s character, Catherine, is depicted as an unhappily married mother actively involved in the Garden Society, juggling her real estate career while harboring a tantalizing secret. Her role promises depth and intrigue, adding layers to the unfolding narrative.

The ensemble cast also features Matthew Davis and Alexander Hodge, playing pivotal roles that intertwine with the main storyline. Davis portrays Joel, a police officer grappling with personal and professional challenges, while Hodge embodies Doug, Alice’s husband, navigating unfulfilled dreams and a sense of stagnation.

AnnaSophia Robb steps into the role of Alice, a high school English teacher whose aspirations are colliding with harsh realities. Her character’s dynamic within the Garden Society adds another dimension to the show’s thematic exploration.

The pilot is under the direction of Maggie Kiley and produced by Bans through her Minnesota Logging Co., along with Krebs and Casey Kyber. This collaboration promises a visually captivating and narratively engaging production that showcases the talents of its ensemble cast.

For Aja Naomi King, this project marks a significant return to broadcast television after her acclaimed run on “How To Get Away With Murder.” Her recent roles in Apple TV+’s “Lessons In Chemistry” have further solidified her standing as a versatile and compelling actress.
