The first season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” delves into a post-apocalyptic world where monsters are real, following the journey of two siblings as they uncover their family’s ties to the enigmatic Monarch organization. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
The series also starred Kiersey Clemons, Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, John Goodman, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.
Created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, the series has been a collaborative effort with executive producers Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, and Jen Roskind. Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character, also plays a pivotal role as an executive producer, reflecting the deep-rooted relationship between Legendary and the Monsterverse franchise.
This renewal and spinoff deal mark a significant expansion of the Monsterverse, which has seen immense success on the big screen with films like “Godzilla,” “Kong: Skull Island,” “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” and “Godzilla vs. Kong.” The Monsterverse has not only captured the imaginations of fans worldwide but also solidified its place in entertainment history with over $2 billion in box office earnings.
