CBS Cancels "CSI: Vegas" and "So Help Me Todd"

CBS has made significant programming decisions recently, canceling two of its dramas, “CSI: Vegas” and “So Help Me Todd.” These cancellations come after three seasons for “CSI: Vegas” and two for “So Help Me Todd.” The decision was somewhat anticipated, as Deadline had previously reported that both shows were in a precarious position.

Despite their solid ratings performances, both “CSI: Vegas” and “So Help Me Todd” were deemed the least-watched CBS drama series this spring, both in terms of linear and multi-platform ratings. This move comes amidst a successful season for CBS overall, with the network adding three new drama series to its lineup for the 2024-25 season: “NCIS: Origins,” “Matlock,” and “Watson.” Additionally, a second season of “NCIS: Sydney” is in the works.

In terms of viewership, “CSI: Vegas” ranks at #21 among all non-sports broadcast programs, drawing in 6.234 million viewers, while “So Help Me Todd” follows closely at #22 with 6.224 million viewers, according to the most recent linear Nielsen data. Despite these numbers, both shows were unable to secure a spot in the upcoming season lineup.

CBS’s decision to cancel these shows reflects the broader challenges faced by networks in managing their programming amidst a changing landscape. With budget pressures and the need to make room for new additions, tough decisions like these are becoming more common.

As fans bid farewell to “CSI: Vegas” and “So Help Me Todd,” the focus shifts to the future lineup of CBS, which includes new shows like the “Matlock” reboot starring Kathy Bates and the multi-cam comedy “Poppa’s House” featuring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. These additions, along with other renewals and new series orders, showcase CBS’s ongoing efforts to evolve its programming while staying true to its audience.
