Directed by Coen and co-written with his wife Tricia Cooke, the comedy caper follows Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit recovering from yet another breakup, and her demure friend Marian, who desperately needs to break out of her shell. The duo embarks on a journey to Tallahassee for a fresh start, only to discover an unidentified package in the trunk of their rental car, setting off a chain of comedic events.
As they unintentionally become entangled in the criminal underworld, led by Colman Domingo’s character working for the mysterious Matt Damon, the two friends find themselves on the run. The chase becomes a cat-and-mouse game, with an unexpected ally in the form of a police officer portrayed by Beanie Feldstein.
Adding to the intrigue is Pedro Pascal in an undisclosed role, attempting to prevent the film’s central suitcase from falling into the wrong hands. The trailer reveals snippets of the comedic escapade, showcasing the dysfunctional dynamic between Jamie and Marian and the inept criminals pursuing them.
Coen, known for his collaborative work with his brother Joel on acclaimed films like “Fargo” and “The Big Lebowski,” steps into solo direction with “Drive-Away Dolls.” Cooke, a seasoned collaborator with the Coen brothers, co-penned the script and contributed her editing expertise to the project.
