Corbin Bleu to Host Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth Concert in Times Square, Debbie Allen to Receive Legacy Award

The free outdoor concert on June 19 will feature performers from 17 Broadway shows

Corbin Bleu will host the sixth annual Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth concert in Times Square on Friday, June 19, with the event set to run from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., rain or shine. The free outdoor concert, presented by The Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative in partnership with Black Theatre United and BTC: Building The Change, celebrates Black artistry, culture and unity with an all-Black cast of Broadway artists taking the stage at Duffy Square, located between 46th and 47th Streets.

Bleu, who is currently starring as Nick Carraway in The Great Gatsby on Broadway, will preside over the 90-minute celebration, which will feature performers from 17 productions including Aladdin, and Juliet, Buena Vista Social Club, CATS: The Jellicle Ball, The Great Gatsby, Hadestown, Hamilton, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, The Lost Boys, MJ the Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Ragtime, SIX: The Musical, Titanique, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), Wicked and the upcoming Wanted. The young performers of Young Gifted and Broadway will also return.

The concert’s centerpiece honor this year goes to Debbie Allen, who will receive the 2026 Juneteenth Legacy Award. The Tony-nominated, Emmy-winning, Kennedy Center Honoree has shaped American culture across film, television, theater and dance for more than four decades. She is best known for her role as Lydia Grant in the hit series Fame, has choreographed the Academy Awards a record ten times and currently directs and executive produces Grey’s Anatomy. This season she directed the acclaimed Broadway revival of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. Through the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, she has spent decades championing arts education and creating opportunities for the next generation of artists.

Organizers described her as an ideal recipient. “Through her extraordinary artistry, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation, Ms. Allen exemplifies the spirit of the Juneteenth Legacy Award and the lasting influence of a true cultural trailblazer.”

The creative team behind the concert includes director and writer Matthew Johnson Harris, musical director Rashad McPherson, executive producer Kendra Whitlock Ingram and stage manager Kamra A. Jacobs, with general management by Bespoke Theatricals. All performances will be accompanied by live music supported by the Music Performance Trust Fund and the Film Funds. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided. Flagstar Bank is this year’s presenting sponsor.
