Amazon’s latest acquisition, MGM, has big plans to expand the universe of the Creed movie franchise, which has already raked in $100M+ globally in its latest installment, Creed III.

According to Deadline, sources reveal that discussions have been ongoing for the past year with Creed’s star and filmmaker, Michael B. Jordan, for various projects related to the franchise. Amazon is reportedly exploring the possibility of creating an anime series related to the Rocky spinoff IP, a companion live-action TV series, and a potential project centered around Adonis Creed’s daughter, Amara, played by Mila Davis-Kent in Creed III.

Although details are still sketchy, Amazon and MGM are looking to create a universe that spans both film and TV. Building a Creed universe is expected to be a test case for Amazon’s ambitions for MGM since the acquisition for $8.5B closed a year ago. Amazon Studios has been actively discussing mining the MGM library of IP, starting with 007’s Road to a Million, a competition reality series based on the iconic spy, which was greenlighted immediately after the transaction was completed.

While there have been talks about exploring the Rocky franchise, including its creator and star Sylvester Stallone, nothing tangible has materialized yet. MGM is also developing a Drago spinoff movie, which will focus on Rocky Balboa’s foe, Russian boxer Ivan Drago, and his son, Viktor Drago, introduced as Creed’s adversary in Creed II.
