Apple TV+ has announced its upcoming crime thriller series, “Criminal Record,” scheduled to premiere with its first two episodes on Friday, January 12, 2024. The series stars Academy Award and BAFTA winner Peter Capaldi and Laurence Olivier Award nominee Cush Jumbo as the lead detectives.
Created by BAFTA Award nominee Paul Rutman, “Criminal Record” is a character-driven drama set in contemporary London. The story revolves around an anonymous phone call that entangles two detectives in a high-stakes confrontation over an old murder case. Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty, portrayed by Peter Capaldi, is determined to protect his legacy, while Detective Sergeant June Lenker, played by Cush Jumbo, is a young professional in the early stages of her career. Their clash forms the core of this suspenseful narrative.
“Criminal Record” explores important societal themes such as race, institutional failure, and the search for common ground in a divided Britain.
The cast includes Charlie Creed-Miles, Dionne Brown, Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell-Moore, Zoë Wanamaker, Rasaq Kukoyi, Maisie Ayres, Aysha Kala, Cathy Tyson, and Tom Moutchi. This diverse ensemble promises to bring depth to the characters within the series.
