Damson Idris Joins Brad Pitt in Apple TV+’s Formula One Racing Movie

As Snowfall winds down, Damson Idris has secured his next role. The British actor will star opposite Brad Pitt in Apple TV+’s Formula One (F1) Racing movie.

According to the project’s synopsis, Pitt will play a former driver who returns to the sport, with Idris playing his teammate. Apple is working with Pitt and Plan B Entertainment on another film, a Jon Watts-directed project that will also star George Clooney.

The project will be directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who previously worked together on Top Gun: Maverick. The screenplay will be penned by Ehren Kruger, one of the writers on Maverick. Seven-time Formula One champion Sir Lewis Hamilton will produce the film under his Dawn Apollo Films banner, along with Bruckheimer and Chad Oman from Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. The project is also supported by Formula 1 and the FIA. Penni Thow will serve as the executive producer.

The upcoming Formula One film will receive a theatrical release for at least 30 days before moving to Apple TV+. The tech giant has been expanding its theatrical distribution efforts and recently partnered with Paramount for the October release of Martin Scorsese’s Flower Moon. Apple has several other films in the works, including the Cannes-bound Killers of the Flower Moon and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.

Idris is best known for his leading role in FX’s Snowfall, which has earned him two NAACP Image Award nominations. He has also appeared in episodes of Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone and starred in Netflix’s sci-fi action film Outside the Wire. The British actor is represented by CAA, M88, and Hansen Jacobson.
