Giancarlo Esposito Keeps Building His Empire with Yet Another Major Role
Giancarlo Esposito is proving once again why he’s the go-to talent for powerhouse performances. Fresh off his roles in The Residence, The Electric State, and Captain America: Brave New World, Esposito is adding yet another intriguing project to his ever-expanding resume.
This time, he’s stepping into The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, a crime thriller directed by Noah Segan and starring the legendary John Turturro. Set in New York City, the film follows Harry (Turturro), a career pickpocket racing against time in a desperate situation. Esposito joins the cast that includes Tatiana Maslany, Victoria Moroles, Will Price, and Steve Buscemi, though the details of his role—like the rest of the cast—are being kept tightly under wraps. What we do know is that this marks a reunion between Esposito and Turturro, who shared the screen in Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing.
In addition to this new crime thriller, Esposito is also gearing up for his role in Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother with Amazon MGM, and By Any Means, a crime drama that tells the true story of a mafia hitman teaming up with a Black special agent to investigate the killings of civil rights leaders in 1960s Mississippi. Esposito will portray Vernon Dahmer, a civil rights leader murdered by the KKK. The cast also features Nicole Beharie, LisaGay Hamilton, LaChanze, Josh Lucas, David Strathairn, and Ethan Embry, and production is already underway in Atlanta.
With all of these projects on the horizon, it’s clear Esposito isn’t slowing down anytime soon. His ability to seamlessly jump from crime thrillers to historical dramas speaks volumes about his range, and this next chapter in his career is one to watch closely.
