The streets of Harlem are about to get even bloodier. MGM+ just dropped the trailer for Season 4 of Godfather of Harlem, and from the looks of it, Bumpy Johnson’s reign is about to be tested like never before. The highly anticipated new season premieres April 13, 2025, bringing back Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker as the infamous Harlem crime boss.

Alongside Whitaker, familiar faces are returning, including Ilfenesh Hadera, Lucy Fry, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Erik LaRay Harvey, Michael Raymond James, Elvis Nolasco, and Erik Palladino. But the biggest shake-up? Rome Flynn (How to Get Away with Murder) joins the cast as Frank Lucas, the real-life gangster who eventually rises to power in Harlem’s criminal underworld.
If you thought Bumpy had his hands full before, think again. This season, he’s not only battling New York’s mafia families for control of Harlem, but now he’s got to contend with Frank Lucas—an ambitious young hustler who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. On top of that, Malcolm X’s assassination leaves Harlem at a crossroads, and Bumpy’s daughter Elise (Crowe-Legacy) finds herself deeper in the Black Panther movement than ever before.

Season 4 also welcomes new historical figures into the fold. Michael Benjamin Washington (American Auto) will step into the role of literary and civil rights icon James Baldwin, while Devin Kessler portrays Afeni Shakur, a revolutionary activist and mother of Tupac Shakur. Elijah Wright plays Jerome Greene, a Vietnam veteran-turned-Black Panther, and Erik Palladino returns as Pino Greco, a ruthless Genovese underboss with his own agenda.
Created by Chris Brancato (Narcos) and the late Paul Eckstein, Godfather of Harlem continues to blend fact and fiction, pulling audiences into the high-stakes world of power, loyalty, and survival. Since its debut, the series has given viewers a front-row seat to Harlem’s transformation during the Civil Rights era, touching on issues of race, identity, and systemic corruption.
And let’s not forget the music—Swizz Beatz is back as the show’s executive music producer, so expect another season of fire tracks that set the perfect tone for the gritty drama.
Produced by 20th Television, the series boasts an impressive roster of executive producers, including Forest Whitaker, Nina Yang Bongiovi, James Acheson, Markuann Smith, Ray Quinlan, Michael Panes, and Stephen Schiff.
