The Sanderson sisters are getting ready to run amok once again.
Disney is officially developing Hocus Pocus 3, with original stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy set to reprise their iconic roles as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary.
The third installment is currently in early development at Disney Live Action Studios, with plans for a potential theatrical release—marking a shift from Hocus Pocus 2, which debuted exclusively on Disney+ in 2022.
While Disney has yet to officially comment due to the project’s early stage, development is moving forward after years of stops and starts. The sequel was first announced in 2023 by former Disney production president Sean Bailey, but momentum slowed following his departure from the studio in 2024.
Behind the scenes, negotiations with the returning trio reportedly delayed progress, though those issues have now been resolved—clearing the way for the witches to return.
Plot details for Hocus Pocus 3 are currently under wraps.
The original Hocus Pocus, directed by Kenny Ortega, has since become a Halloween staple. Set in Salem, Massachusetts, the film follows three 17th-century witches resurrected on Halloween night, who attempt to steal the life force of children to achieve immortality.
The 2022 sequel, directed by Anne Fletcher, brought the sisters back nearly three decades later, introducing a new generation of teens tasked with stopping their chaos.
As development continues, there’s also growing interest in bringing back legacy cast members, including Thora Birch and James Marsden, who have both expressed interest in returning to the franchise.
If this installment does serve as the final chapter, it could mark a full-circle moment for one of Disney’s most beloved cult classics—this time, potentially on the big screen.
For now, one thing is clear: the Sanderson sisters aren’t done just yet.
