‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Trailer Drops – Was Really Hoping to See Brandy [TRAILER]

I Know What You Did Last Summer is officially back in season — but the trailer left some of us still holding out hope for one iconic return.

Sony Pictures just dropped the first trailer for the upcoming horror reboot, and it’s giving fresh blood, familiar faces, and some very bloody payback. Starring Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King, the film picks up the franchise’s deadly legacy with a new crew of friends hiding a fatal secret and a killer who refuses to let the past stay buried.

Joining the new cast are OG scream king and queen Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt, reprising their roles as Ray and Julie from the 1997 original and 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

But if you’re like us and grew up quoting Karla Wilson’s one-liners and dodging metaphorical fishhooks, you might be wondering… where is Brandy?

When asked directly about Brandy’s return, director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson played it coy, saying only: “You’ll have to go see the movie.” ???? That means there’s still hope — and horror fans know, in this franchise, if you don’t see a body…

The new film leans into the lore of the original while dialing up the violence and nostalgia. “There’s definitely more methodology to every kill,” Robinson teased, noting that the scares are “much more brutal” this time around. And Hewitt herself promised lots of ‘90s Easter eggs for longtime fans.

The logline sets up a familiar premise: Five friends are bound together by a deadly accident they swore to keep secret. A year later, someone knows — and they’re not just watching… they’re coming. As the body count rises, the group is forced to turn to the survivors of the original Southport Massacre for help.

And in case you forgot: Julie and Karla did survive the chaos of the Bahamas. So Brandy’s absence in this first look? Suspicious.

Directed by Robinson (Do Revenge, Someone Great) and co-written with Sam Lansky, based on a story with Leah McKendrick, the film is produced by IKWYDLS original producer Neal H. Moritz.

The original 1997 film became a slasher classic, known for its glossy cast, suspenseful thrills, and unforgettable hook-wielding killer. This relaunch aims to honor that legacy while sharpening its blade for a new generation.

I Know What You Did Last Summer hits theaters July 18.

Watch the official trailer below — and let us know: Are you ready to return to Southport? And do YOU think Brandy’s making a comeback?
