Fresh from the success of the eerie indie film “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair,” director Jane Schoenbrun collaborates with A24 to bring another horror gem to the big screen, titled “I Saw the TV Glow.” Set to premiere at the upcoming SXSW Film Festival before it arrives in theaters on May 3, 2024, A24 dropped trailer for “I Saw the TV Glow” just 24 hours after the reveal of the film’s poster.

The star-studded cast features Justice Smith, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Danielle Deadwyler, Ian Foreman, Amber Benson, Helena Howard, Michael Maronna, Conner O’Malley, Emma Portner, and Danny Tamberelli.

In the film, Owen (played by Justice Smith) navigates suburban life until a mysterious TV show, revealing a supernatural world beneath reality, captivates him. As Owen immerses himself in the pale glow of the television, the boundaries between his perception of reality and the supernatural begin to blur.

The trailer shows Maddy (Lundy-Paine) obsessing over an old TV show, The Pink Opaque, while Owen tries to convince her it’s nothing more than a series they used to watch when they were younger. However, reality-altering events begin to transpire, with some involving old TV sets.

Musicians and personalities such as Lindsey Jordan (Snail Mail), Fred Durst, Haley Dahl’s Sloppy Jane (featuring Phoebe Bridgers), and King Woman contribute to the haunting atmosphere of “I Saw the TV Glow.”

Produced by Emma Stone’s Fruit Tree banner, A24 and director Jane Schoenbrun aim to deliver an unsettling experience reminiscent of the experimental works of David Lynch. The film explores the story of two teenage outcasts bonding over a spine-chilling television show, and the unsettling events that follow after its mysterious cancellation blurs the line between fiction and reality.

While a release date for “I Saw the TV Glow” remains undisclosed, the unveiling of the poster and imminent trailer release suggest that A24 will soon share its plans for the film. As fans eagerly await more details, the horror flick promises to be a thrilling addition to the genre.

For those intrigued by the spine-chilling narrative of “I Saw the TV Glow” and fans of Schoenbrun’s previous work, such as “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair,” the film’s premiere at SXSW is an event not to be missed. Stay tuned for further updates and mark your calendars for what could be the next bone-chilling sensation in the horror genre.
