The wait is over — Marvel has officially dropped the trailer for Ironheart, giving fans a first look at Riri Williams’ solo journey post-Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The six-episode series premieres June 24 on Disney+, with the first three episodes dropping on day one.
Dominique Thorne returns as Riri, the Chicago-born MIT genius who built her own suit of armor from scratch and caught the attention of Wakanda (and Namor) in her MCU debut. Now, she’s back on home turf and stepping further into her power — but this time, the battle is more personal.
Set after the events of Wakanda Forever, Ironheart finds Riri clashing with a new kind of threat: Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (played by Anthony Ramos), a streetwise villain with dark magic on his side. It’s tech vs. sorcery in a world where science isn’t the only thing that can change the game.
Created by Chinaka Hodge, Ironheart is helmed by directors Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. The show is executive produced by Hodge, Kevin Feige, Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and more — continuing Marvel’s expanding collaboration with creatives of color behind the camera.
Joining Thorne and Ramos is a standout ensemble: Lyric Ross as Riri’s best friend Natalie; Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy; Manny Montana as Cousin John; Matthew Elam, Anji White, Shea Couleé, and Regan Aliyah also star in the series.
Zoe Terakes, Shakira Barrera, Paul Calderón, Sonia Denis, Harper Anthony, Cree Summer, and Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola, and Jim Rash round out the cast with Sacha Baron Cohen rumored to appear as a mysterious magic-wielding character, possibly Mephisto.
For longtime comic fans, this is a full-circle moment. Riri Williams was first introduced in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man #7, created by Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato. She reverse-engineered her own Iron Man suit in her dorm room, and later stepped into the name Ironheart after Tony Stark fell into a coma.
And while Ironheart is grounded in the MCU, it doesn’t feel like just another origin story. The trailer teases high stakes, dope tech, and real emotional weight — from DIY suit upgrades to tense family dinners and rooftop showdowns. You can feel the Chicago energy pulsing through it all.
Between Thunderbolts heating things up on the film side and Ryan Coogler fresh off his bloody Sinners rollout, the MCU seems to be pivoting back to stories that actually feel lived in — and Ironheart is leading that charge.
Marvel fans wanted more of Riri the second she flew across that Wakandan sky. Now, she’s back, and it looks like she’s building something even bigger — and more dangerous — than before.
