Diarra Kilpatrick and Paul James join the cast of the Nash Bridges reboot. The revival will air on USA as a two-hour movie that producers are hoping will be successful enough to serve as a backdoor pilot for a full series relaunch.

Original stars Don Johnson, Cheech Marin, and Jeff Perry are reprising their roles. In the original Johnson starred as the title star, Nash Bridges, Marin starred as Joe Dominguez, and Perry as Harvey Leek.

The original series centered on Bridges, a fun-loving inspector (and later captain) with the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU). He tackled crime using his keen sense of humor and charm. Marin’s Joe Dominguez came out of retirement to become Bridges’ wisecracking yet more rule-abiding partner.

The Nash Bridges reboot brings Johnson and Marin’s characters back together as elite investigators for the same San Francisco Police Department’s SIU in 2020. Now they are confronting a changing city, a new boss, and a world in which police work focuses on modern data-crunching and predictive policing. Although the world around him has changed, Nash hasn’t.

Bonnie Somerville, Joe Dinicol, Alexia Garcia, and Angela Ko round out the cast for the reboot.

Kilpatrick will star as Lena Harris, police captain as well as Nash’s boss. Ko will play Ellie Tang, a rebellious, adrenaline junkie SIU Investigator. James is Keith “Philly” Morton, a tough as nails SIU inspector, he is also Ellie’s partner.

Garcia portrays Chloe Zane, a fearless and tech savvy member of the SIU Unit. Dinicol plays Steven Colton, a by-the-book millennial cop. Somerville plays Christina Hunter, a psychiatrist who contracts with SIU to evaluate cops.

The reboot comes from Johnson, Bill Chais and Marc Rosen as well Village Roadshow Television, which also controls rights to the property, is producing.

Carlton Cuse created the original Nash Bridges. It ran for six seasons from 1996 to 2001 — a total of 122 episodes — on CBS. However, Cuse is not involved with the revival.
