Netflix Keeps the Friendship Vacationa Going as ‘The Four Seasons’ Scores a Third Season Renewal

Netflix is not done vacationing with its ensemble comedy just yet. The streamer announced Monday that The Four Seasons has been renewed for a third season, with the news coming roughly two weeks after Season 2 made its debut. Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Head of Scripted Series for the US and Canada, shared the announcement during a fireside chat at the BANFF World Media Festival.

Co-creators and showrunners Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield will return to helm the new installment, which will once again consist of eight episodes structured as four two-episode arcs set across the four seasons of the year. The core cast from Season 2, including Fey, Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Erika Henningsen, are all set to return.

Henningsen, whose character Ginny spent much of Season 2’s final stretch on her own path as she raised the child of the late Nick, will be back as a series regular. The Season 2 finale also introduced a potential new face to the group when David Tennant appeared in a surprise cameo as Gianpiero, a neighbor who seems poised to become a love interest for Nick’s widow Anne, played by Kenney-Silver. Wigfield has hinted at more story to come involving Tennant’s character, though no formal deal is yet in place.

Based on Alan Alda’s 1981 film of the same name, the series follows three couples whose annual group vacations become increasingly complicated after one marriage unravels. Season 1, which premiered in May 2025, drew 24.4 million views in its first two weeks and topped Netflix’s English language chart. Season 2 opened at number three before climbing, and has since appeared in the Top 10 across 56 countries.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring a third season of The Four Seasons to life,” Fey, Fisher, and Wigfield said in a joint statement. “Thank you to everyone who watched. Middle-aged people, LFG!”

Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s VP of US Comedy, echoed the enthusiasm, saying the creative team has a rare ability to balance warmth and sharp writing in a way that makes audiences feel genuinely invested in the characters.

The series is produced by Universal Television and Fey’s production company Little Stranger, Inc., with executive producers including David Miner, Eric Gurian, Jeff Richmond, and Alan Alda himself.
